I’m over-the-moon excited to announce the launch of “You Do You,” a collection of essays and poems written by strong females from middle school to middle aged (I think that might be me!).
I’m going to tell you about the moment that I knew that I absolutely HAD to be involved with this project; what it has to do with punching people in the throat (!), how it led me onto a (live!) TV screen, and what this aallll has to do with raising your own strong girl.
Right after this pretty pin. :)
Psst … PIN THIS!
I also got to tell the background of what inspired the amazing Jen Mann, of the NYT Bestselling series, “People I Want To Punch In The Throat” (!) to create this book, AND answer the all-important question: what advice do I have for dads raising girls. (My answer might surprise you!)

I know you're going to love it as much as my girls and I do!
Speaking of my girls (and yours) …
They are — 100% — my reason for wanting to be in this book and for shouting about it from every rooftop that I can find. (Sorry about that, neighbors!)
Decades ago — when I was a classroom teacher and before I was a mom — a mother of one of my students set up a meeting to tell me that I wasn’t challenging her daughter enough in Math.
After we came up with a plan to IMMEDIATELY fix that mess right up, she hesitated a moment, touched my arm, and said …
… “I hope that you don’t mind that I brought this up to you …
I have NEVER forgotten that.
And THAT’S how I knew that I HAD to be a part of this project.
It’s a heart-gift between …
… Women to women.
… Mothers to daughters.
… Friends to friends.
Get yours today. I think it’s going to mean as as much to you as it does to me!
The concept of creating a healthy relationship with our children and their technology was born of my bestselling book Kindness Wins, a simple guide to teaching your child to be kind online. Because a world filled with tweens who use the Internet even just a 'lil more kindly? Is a better one, as far as I'm concerned.
