Everything you think you know about kids and the internet?

It's a lie.

This is not your typical discussion about children and screen time.

This isn’t about scare tactics or games of “keep away” between parents, teachers, and children with phones and the online world in between.

This is a freshly squeezedtried and testedmodern parenting and teaching approach that works with kids, putting us all on the same team.

This is an approach to teaching kids about social media that goes against everything you think you know about raising digital kids.

Balanced online users, wise decision makers, leaders, change-makers.
You don’t get here with age restrictions, time limits, and scare tactics.

The parenting and teaching world is changing—and for the better.

If you're thoughtful, purposeful, open, and willing, you are the exact right person to make a difference in this new world of raising digital kids.

The truth is that parenting and teaching go hand in hand. This new terrain of raising digital kids without ever having been them, favors short, direct, repeated, simple, open and honest conversations with our kids and students.

The conversation starters and engagers are raising change makers and leaders.

Want to be one of them?

This email course is for people who are ready to harness and build on the unique relationships that they have with their kids and students and start making a real difference in their online worlds with their kids.

What will you learn?

+ UNDERSTAND YOUR TRIGGERS

Understand why screen time triggers worries, and sometimes guilt, for us.

+ ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS

Get the answers to burning questions including how much access should my child have to her device and should devices be allowed in rooms?

+ TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WHAT THEY REALLY NEED TO KNOW

Teach your kids and students what they need to know to be balanced online users. (And leaders!)

+ TRULY SEE AND MEET YOUR CHILDREN WHERE THEY ARE TODAY

Meet your kids right where they are and connect with them because of technology, not despite it.

+ AND BE PREPARED FOR WHAT THEY WILL NEED FROM YOU TOMORROW

Embrace the fact that what our kids need and are exposed to online today aren't the same things that you'll both need to understand tomorrow. Learn how to create a system that grows and changes as they (and their experiences) do.

Some other questions you might be asking are:

+ SO IF THIS IS SO EFFECTIVE, WHY IS IT FREE?

Because I see so many parents and teachers trying to scare their kids away from social media or (even worse) letting their kids go online without any help and guidance and I want to show you a different approach to raising a digital kid while keeping the lines of communication between parents, teachers, and kids wide open.

As a former teacher, I know how important it is to keep us all on the same team and sending the same messages, and I love helping people embrace social media and teach their kids and students to be smart, savvy, and kind digital change-makers.

And honestly? I hope that when you take this free course you'll think of me fondly. That you'll join me in spreading online balance, safety, wisdom, and kindness. And that you'll think to yourself, hmm, she's on to something.

+ IS THIS JUST A LOT OF "EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT" + "I SAW A PIN ABOUT THIS" KIND OF THINGS?

No, it's not.

Here's how I know that: When I set out to teach my kids about social media I started to read so many blog posts about it—and they all said the same things. The same 5 ways to keep your kids off line as much as possible and to monitor their use whenever you do allow them to be online.

I tried reading them all, I even tried to follow the advice of the first dozen or so, but I had to stop because not only were they all the same, but none of them worked for me.

And more importantly, those strategies weren't even in line with what I wanted from my parenting and teaching—which was to keep the conversation lines reciprocal and wide open.

So I did something different. I stopped doing what everyone else was doing and did my own thing. I dug deep into my teaching roots and used what I know works for teachers in the classroom with parenting in the trenches. And guess what? It worked.

I'm not regurgitating other people's advice here—these techniques, methods, strategies, and advice are all tried and tested (by me!).

+ WHO ARE YOU ANYWAY?

Hi there, I'm Galit (pronounced guh-leet).

I help people be kind online and create currently trending and change-making conversations about online kindness and savvy digital citizenship, and I want to help you do the same.

I'm a former classroom teacher who definitely proves the "you can take the teacher out of the classroom, but you can't take the classroom out of the teacher" mantra (that's how it goes, right?). I'm madly in love with social media, I'm a voracious reader, a sucker for Chai lattes, and I love golden doodles (I can't even with those eyes!).

What else is there to know?

Confession: I wake my husband up in the middle of the night to discuss online kindness.

Here's the deal with that:

My first book Kindness Wins™ became a best seller, a TEDx Talk, and a cyber bullying resource for parents, teachers, school counselors, coaches, and youth group leaders around the world in less than one year.

I did not this do this by scaring parents, teachers, and kids away from social media or by sharing other people's ideas on how to raise great digital kids.

I built a kindness movement that creates real value for real people based on my own experiences and my own research. I believe in purposefully and thoughtfully raising and teaching smart, savvy, wise, and kind digital kids because doing it in this way works.

Today, I create original and tried-and-tested-by-me curriculum for raising digital kids courses, speak at events, and continue to build, grow, change as needed, and I share new information as I learn it.
